How to use Keyword Planner for keyword research

Below we’ll explain the four main ways you can use Keyword Planner.

Search for new keyword and ad group ideas

You’ll want to search for ideas if you want to find keywords for a new campaign or expand the keyword list for an existing campaign. If you’re trying to expand an existing campaign, for example, you might use Keyword Planner to find more specific keywords that don’t have a high search volume (which we like to call “long-tail” keywords), but might be more likely to lead to a conversion.

Next, you’ll “shop” from the list of keyword and ad group ideas and add the keywords you like to a draft “shopping cart” plan – the same way you might shop for shoes on an e-commerce site!

Get search volume for a list of keywords or group them into ad groups

If you already have a list of keywords, you can enter those keywords manually or upload them as a CSV file to get an idea of how popular those keywords have been. For example, you could enter a list of keywords and get search volume statistics. You can also group your keywords into ad groups.

Get traffic estimates for a list of keywords

If you already have a list of keywords, you can also enter those keywords manually or upload them as a CSV file to get click and cost estimates. These are estimates that are specific to your AdWords account and the bid that you’ve selected.

Multiply keyword lists

Save the time of manually combining keywords by multiplying two or more lists of keywords. Then, get historical statistics or traffic estimates for the new list of combined keywords.

Kavita Verryth, Manager of Fashionchick talks us through the affiliate website and the new redesign launch of the company!

Fashionchick is an online shopping experience for the stylish woman who wants to see everything before she buys anything. Playing host to over one hundred online shops via performance based marketing networks, Fashionchick allows users to search for the items they want before displaying all the products available to buy online. Users can filter by shop, brand and budget, as well as colour, size and style, to make sure they find exactly what they’re looking for without having to spend hours browsing each individual online shop.

As well as an easy-to-use and extensive shopping experience, we also offer daily fashion news articles, covering a huge range of topics from trends, to beauty to how-to-wear advice. We work on encouraging user interaction with regular competitions increasing brand awareness and engaging users.

Next month sees the introduction of the site’s redesign, which will offer a smoother, conversion focused source for the avid online shopper. Our new look will simplify the site’s overall image, focusing on larger images and classic colourings. We will be introducing an outfit creator app on the site, to encourage more user interaction as well as a number of new competitions aiming to optimise shop and product awareness.

Affiliate Window treat etailPR to business lunch at 131 The Promenade

Affiliate Window made a trip to the heart of The Cotswolds yesterday to visit the team at etailPR; the network made sure the visit was exciting by booking a business room with lunch at the new Gloucestershire based restaurant 131 The Promenade.

On the agenda was:

- New and improved SLA for etailPR

- Multi/sales attribution model for some accounts

- Benchmarking reports for all accounts

- GAP analysis reports for all accounts

- New and upcoming affiliates

The afternoon was packed full with a meeting agenda to run through so it was definitely nice to enjoy a lovely lunch whilst discussing strategy and new opportunities for both companies. etailPR have numerous active affiliate campaigns on the network including top tier brands therefore it was great sitting down and working out what new partnerships we could bring to the table for these brands.

There was also some development on the discussions regarding the etailPR Blogger Network so watch this space for something exciting to launch…
